Jigsaw Puzzle History

Jigsaw puzzles are believed to originate from England. The story takes us back to 1760, when a London mapmaker John Spilsbury, mounted a map on a sheet of hardwood and cut around the borders of countries. As a result, he created a great tool for geography learning, which was used as purely educational tool at schools of Britain until 1820.

In 1880's first picture jigsaw puzzles were introduced for kids entertainment. Later the wooden boards were replaced by cardboard. 1920's and 1930's are considered to be the Golden Era of puzzles, the period when first puzzle giants entered the market, offering colorful picture jigsaws .

Today, jigsaw puzzles remain very popular among children and their parents. Puzzles are believed to be a great tool to develop child's cognitive, and logical skills. They also help to learn to recognize colors, shapes and patterns. As we, at Magikid, care a lot about children's development and education, we created Magikid Train Puzzle App for kids of Kidergarten and Preschool ages. Magikid Puzzle is a colorful, fun and engaging way to develop your child!
